When making my portfolio map, I ended up scrapping a lot of smaller projects I’ve done over the years, like my website or an animation project I’ve done in After Effects, because I was unhappy with their quality or knew I could create a better version that I could later include. I found most of my proudest work is in graphics creation, especially my personal projects like the cryptids designs, Bloodborne artwork, and pixel art animations. I think this is because I had the most motivation and excitement to do these projects. My portfolio is very solid on illustration, but lacks video production, so I may work on strengthening that area (I do have previously completed video production work, but nothing I was proud enough of to include here). I would like to highlight my creativity, which I think is covered here but I should probably show it through other mediums, like video and sound design.

Project Portfolio (So far…ish)

Hey y’all, so right now this will be a rough posting of my portfolio so far. This is most of the work that I have accomplished thoughout my life and the most interetsting to me personallly and professionally. It isn’t as complete as I would like it to be, but I think what is presented is a pretty good idea of what kind of stuff I am generally into including the introduction to my skill set. feel free to share your thoughts

For my portfolio map, I was a little confused and kind of stuck as to what I should put on. As I put more on, I saw that most of my stuff is graphics related, which did not surprise me at all. Graphic Design is my minor and I love doing. I think for my project I’m leaning towards doing more motion graihics based things. Its a medium that I do not have very much experience with it but it is something that I would love to work with more. I can use my skills in Graphic Design to help me as I work towards this potential idea.

These are some of my most defining projects that i have done from IMM an and on my free time. Most of the physical and problem solving one i had practiced on and i don’t see much of a career in my trying to pursue that. So the projects that i thought were the most helpful with the skills i learned and used for them involved mostly using digital instead of physical such as wood working. So i see myself working more in the 3d realm for my thesis maybe including some physics such as as 3d printing or laser cutting.

This project was pretty eye-opening for me. Outside of writing and using your standard point and shoot cameras, I hadn’t touched anything within the realm of IMM before transferring to TCNJ last August. Due to my late start, my only IMM experience thus far as been all of the introduction courses (which is pretty rough seeing I graduate in May of this year). Looking back on previous projects in the IMM department I found that although I gained a lot of vital skills through the projects, many of them were unfinished or didn’t reflect work I am currently capable of. I’m hoping to focus on building a strong portfolio by December when I start applying for summer internships/careers. My internship over the summer, as well as my experience with Lions Television, has offered me a lot of hands on experience which I feel like provides me with the most growth/material I am proud of.

Here’s to hoping I end this semester with a Grade A portfolio website.

After I gathered all my work I could find and remember, I placed it into three different skill sections: Digital, Print, and Physical work (meaning working with traditional tools rather than digital tools). I started to noticed that there was a plethora of print and digital work from all parts of my life: school, personal, and professional. I was genuine surprised of how small the amount of work I had in physical skill section. Which made me think: Is there a project where these skills can be combined? Is there a way where I can design something for each medium in a seamless fashion? What does/will that look like?

At least now I just have to find a problem that can be solved with these skills.

I decided to start mapping out projects I created as far back as my first year as a fine arts major. I decided to map it out in different categories based on the general topic. At first, I didn’t know if it would be relevant or not to the kind of work I want to do in the industry, but it still related in some way to the art I’d want to work on in the future. It definitely gave me a solid base in terms of the way I think about things from installations to paintings or drawings. Later on towards the bottom, I included the past two years as an IMM major. There aren’t many IMM related projects here, in my opinion, I took out any that I didn’t think were the best or relevant to what I would want to do in the future.
