Porfolio Map

When making my portfolio map I realized that I didn’t have a lot of experience or work to show for my time in IMM. I unfortunately transferred fairly late to this major (junior year) and have been taking as many IMM classes as I can to get experience. This resulted in my two maps having no differences. I’ve worked very hard on all my class, work, and personal projects. I’d be happy to include any of them in a portfolio.

My main issue is that I need to build up more environmental and texturing work for my portfolio. I’m taking a texturing mini course this semester that will help me build more texturing portfolio pieces. I need to work on creating more high quality pieces in my spare time to add to my portfolio.

Portfolio Map

Creating a portfolio map was a little bit difficult as I took the time to recall all the projects I created during my IMM and pre-IMM process. In regards to what I was able to put on this map, it’s clear that the most experience I have is in the writing field followed shortly by the animation field. When thinking about thesis possibilities, I’d like to try to somehow merge these together, or at the very least create an interactive story.

Portfolio Mapping

It wasn’t easy to consolidate projects I’ve completed throughout time into just 2 maps. There are so many things I’ve completed here at TCNJ, at community college, and at my 2 internships – I had to narrow it down to about 3-4 projects for each year.

Anyhow, every project I’ve done has led up to this point in my life – and it’s right where I should be. I’m happy the projects I completed my freshmen and sophomore years helped me earn my associate of arts degree, because it led me here. Now I’m hoping my projects at TCNJ will help me earn my bachelor of arts degree, which  will help me find my dream job.

IMM Portfolio Map

For this inclusive Portfolio Map, I included all of the main projects that I have done in community college and here at TCNJ. Some aren’t finished and some are very sloppy, but some, however, are already finished. The ones that are in my focused map are some that I am most proud of and, or, have finished. It’s only about four projects, but by the time this year is done, I should have at least three more large projects to add to it.

Portfolio Map for IMM Projects

IMM Projects

This first Portfolio Map is of all the major IMM projects I have done while in college and in high school. I have excluded any projects that were unfinished, did not look appealing, and ones that I cannot access. I included projects from 4 different categories: Music, Coding, Digital Media, and Design. As expected, there have been some overlap between the  categories, especially with music and coding, and design, coding, and music. I color coded each category so that everyone can see which projects apply to multiple categories.

Narrowed IMM Projects

Here we see that my list of projects has decreased immensely. I took out any projects that I cannot access, such as my performance with Arc Mercer in “Injustice for All.” I have also excluded projects that got negative feedback due to poor design and relevance to the class. In this map, I have listed all of my current successes that I am proud of. If someone asked me to show these projects, I would gladly show them without fear of incompletion. However, I have added a key down at the bottom of the picture, where we see “Work in Progress, Could have been better, and Almost Perfect.” As of right now, there is only one project that is a work in progress and I don’t see it being finished any time soon. However, I think that I have a solid idea set out for it and would love to get feedback for it eventually. My projects that “could have been better” worked for the class and the assignment. However, they were clearly missing something, whether it be an essential design flaw or a technical error. For these assignments, I either barely got an A or a B+ on them, which I do not consider to be my best work. These projects were not the best by any means, but they still showcase what skills I have and how I can make them better. The “Almost Perfect” project was, as you guessed it, almost perfect. It could have been exceptional, but instead it was average and not special. Part of this was because of the group I worked with and the time constraints of the project itself. However, the end result did showcase our talent and the skills we obtained over a few months. My group and I put much hard work and effort into the final project and I truly think that it was a success. With that being said, I wanted this project to be more interactive and less of a train wreck than on the performance day. I believe that with some minor adjustments, the “almost perfect” project could have been exceptional.
